About Rowan Oak Timber Framing

Who We Are

At Rowan Oak Timber Framing, we’re a small team of passionate craftsmen based in North Devon. We specialise in green oak timber frames for homes, outbuildings, and outdoor spaces across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset & Dorset.

Our Craft

For years, we’ve combined traditional oak joinery with thoughtful design to create handcrafted timber frames. Every beam is built by hand—no shortcuts, just solid, honest work. Our oak is sourced from a trusted local sawmill, giving us full confidence in the quality and sustainability of every frame.

What We Build

Our projects range from:

  • Timber-framed houses

  • Barn conversions

  • Oak porches & pergolas

  • Custom garden structures

We also offer related landscaping such as decking, fencing, and practical finishes to tie your project together.

Personal Service

We’re not a big company, and we like it that way. You’ll deal with the same people from start to finish, with a personal service that makes your project feel truly yours. Whether your ideas are fully formed or just beginning, we’re here to listen and help.

Crafted with Purpose

Meet the Founder – Cameron Cree

Roots in Devon

Cameron Cree, founder of Rowan Oak Timber Framing, is a craftsman and a father. Raised on a working farm in rural North Devon, Cameron grew up with open fields, livestock, and a respect for the land. These early experiences shaped his ethos: working with patience, care, and integrity.

A Life Intertwined with Craft & Family

Today, Cameron’s life is deeply rooted in both his family and his craft. Whether shaping beams in the workshop or exploring the countryside with his son Rowan and partner Jess, his approach to timber framing reflects a balance of tradition, sustainability, and home.

By his side is Baz, his loyal cocker spaniel, a regular presence at the workshop and office. Always watchful, Baz is part of daily life at Rowan Oak, often perched on log piles or napping after a busy morning of “supervising.”

Our Philosophy

At Rowan Oak Timber Framing, we see our work as more than construction. It’s about reconnecting people with place—through oak frames and timber structures that are crafted with care, built to endure, and rooted in the landscape of the South West.

A Thoughtful Approach

Through Rowan Oak, Cameron champions a sustainable and heritage-led approach to oak framing. His work includes:

  • Traditional green oak frames

  • Heritage restoration

  • Bespoke timber design

Every project reflects his belief in building with integrity, using natural materials, and creating spaces that are made to last.
